POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a part-time role requiring 20 hours per week.

The Youth Engagement Instructor plays a crucial role in supporting the Program Coordinator with the execution of an interactive, Earthworks after-school enrichment initiative. This position involves direct participation in the development and delivery of program services. Responsibilities include providing assistance to staff who deliver tutoring, activities, and training sessions for youth. The Youth Engagement Instructor will work under the guidance of the Earthworks Afterschool Program Coordinator.

ROLE DETAILS: The Earthworks After School Program

At the Center for Youth, we are looking for dynamic and resourceful individuals who can transform ordinary settings into extraordinary outdoor experiences. Our distinctive educational approach emphasizes building a strong connection to nature through awareness, fundamental skills, curiosity, community, and the wonders of the natural environment. Students in grades K-6 will engage in activities that promote exploration and adventure, regardless of the location. This program is designed to foster creativity and teamwork through resource gathering, tool crafting, navigating landscapes, and participating in exciting games and challenges. Instructors will contribute to the design of our nature-oriented programs, cultivate positive group dynamics, and ensure the safety and engagement of all participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPR and first aid certifications or Wilderness first aid preferred
  • Bachelor's degree, with a preference for candidates with coursework in environmental sciences/studies

Experience in outdoor education and working with K-8 students is desirable.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with various stakeholders, including educators and program staff

Candidates should be personable, dependable, and capable of engaging effectively with young students in diverse environments.
