About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and restock as needed.
  • Collaborate with the circulating RN to ensure accurate sponge, instrument, and needle counts.
  • Assist with patient positioning and transportation, and provide support to the surgical team as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedures, and ensure that all necessary items are available.
  • Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of the operating room and surrounding areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the surgical team and management.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse, completion of a Surgical Technology program, completion of a Registered Nurse program, or completion of a summer surgical tech extern program.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and two (2) years of previous scrub experience.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly and effectively, and maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

This is a non-exempt position, and the Surgical Technologist will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends. The position will also require the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push/pull heavy loaded carts up to 200 pounds.
