We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraeducator to join our team at North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools. As a 1:1 Special Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, providing individualized attention, and helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Support: Assist students in various subject areas, providing support and practical training to help them succeed.
- Classroom Assistance: Help teachers implement instructional plans, adapt curriculum as needed, and prepare learning materials.
- Student Support: Redirect inappropriate behaviors, prepare food and snacks, assist with physical movement, and provide personal care as required.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with teachers and other staff to ensure student needs are met, and promote a safe and productive learning environment.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Monitor and document student progress, record data for Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), and maintain confidentiality.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent, and one of the following: AA, AS, AAS degree, or 60 semester credits/90 quarter credits from an accredited institution.
- Qualifications: Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, restrain students in emergency situations, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent, education assistant/paraprofessional or teaching experience, experience working with individuals with disabilities, and experience in behavior management.
As a Paraeducator with North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools, you will enjoy a competitive salary of $23.14 per hour, benefits in accordance with the labor agreement covering Paraeducators, and the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our students.
