Geisinger is seeking a highly skilled Addiction Medicine Specialist to join our team in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As a Nurse Practitioner Addiction Medicine Trainee, you will play a vital role in providing integrated mental health and substance use disorder services in a primary care underserved community-based setting.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity allows you to work in a dynamic environment where you can foster robust clinical training and augment expertise among clinicians who provide mental health and addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery services. You will be part of a collaborative team that delivers Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in community-based settings, connecting patients with behavioral health counseling and social supports to retain them in care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in MOUD in community-based settings along with additional clinical training beyond the didactic component
  • Collaborate with caregivers inside and outside of the immediate care team to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Demonstrate effective communication with patients and the care team
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessment of patient's medical, physical, and psychosocial status
  • Develop assessment and treatment plans, participate in clinical patient care, and record progress notes
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have a Master's Degree in Nurse Practitioner (Required), as well as Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania and Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners certifications.
