Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will play a vital role in helping children with physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care to children of all ages, including assessment, treatment, and education.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify patient needs and develop effective treatment strategies.
  • Administer and interpret assessments to determine patient status in areas such as psychosocial and occupational role, musculoskeletal performance, sensation, sensorimotor performance, perception, cognition, developmental processes, and the need for adaptive equipment.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals that are functional and measurable.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, in-services, and continuing education programs to stay current with best practices and advancements in the field.
  • Supervise occupational therapy interns and assistive personnel as needed.
  • Comply with organizational and departmental patient satisfaction initiatives and uphold all policies and procedures of Advocate Health Care.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school.
  • Occupational Therapist license issued by the state in which you practice.
  • Eligible for licensure to practice in Illinois.
  • CPR Certification BCLS.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Competent in a variety of diagnostic and treatment techniques.
  • Recognizes needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated.
Working Conditions

May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. Direct contact with body fluids. Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time. Required to work approximately 1 weekend per month and/or evenings. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
