Model-Based Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Model-Based Engineer to join our innovative team at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division. As a key member of our E92 Model-Based Engineering team, you will play a critical role in supporting our efforts to revolutionize how we design, build, and sustain aircraft carriers and submarines.
Key Responsibilities:- Leverage model-based systems engineering (MBSE) techniques to support the lifecycle management process and develop innovative engineering & design solutions for complex shipbuilding projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate best practices across various engineering disciplines and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain systems models using tools such as CAMEO, MagicDraw, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar, and conduct trade studies and analyses to evaluate design options and optimize system performance.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including project management, and support strategy development.
- 9 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or 7 years with a Master's degree, or 4 years with a PhD.
- Experience with digital twin, simulation, and digital thread concepts, as well as emerging technology enablers, including model-based analysis and simulation concepts, requirements management, IoT, software-driven systems, and sensor feedback.
- Strong understanding of current engineering processes and overall understanding of how ships are designed, planned, constructed, and maintained.
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to lead projects and be responsible for all aspects of project management.
