JOB TITLE: Surgical Technician/LPN - Operating Room - Full Time (Days/No Weekends)

OVERVIEW: St. James Hospital is in search of a committed Surgical Technician/LPN to become a vital member of their Operating Room team on a full-time basis. In this essential role, you will assist the surgeon during surgical procedures by providing instruments and ensuring a sterile environment. Your responsibilities will include delivering quality patient care, upholding cleanliness standards, and adhering to infection control protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to counting standards and assist in patient care activities
  • Maintain a contaminant-free environment and ensure cleanliness
  • Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment
  • Accurately sterilize items and document processes appropriately
  • Prepare necessary equipment and supplies for surgical procedures
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage sharps container replacements
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and communicate safety concerns

EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES MANAGEMENT:

  • Assemble instrument trays and oversee inventory management
  • Prepare surgical instruments before, during, and after procedures
  • Monitor sterilizer performance and maintain accurate records
  • Replace sharps containers as needed

COLLABORATIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Support team initiatives and foster open communication
  • Assist in managing workflow and resolving operational challenges
  • Promote cooperative relationships among colleagues

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • LPN Degree in New York State or Surgical Technologist certification
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Sterilization certification or a willingness to obtain it

REASONING & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to manage frequent interruptions while maintaining composure
  • Physically capable of walking, sitting, lifting, and standing for extended periods
  • Accommodate individuals with disabilities without compromising care

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Exposure to bio-hazardous materials, medical waste, and varying temperatures
  • Diverse work areas including Surgical Services and Operating Room

SALARY RANGE: Minimum starting at $19.89 and maximum reaching $24.99 per hour
