Safety Manager Job Description

At Amentum, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain safety and health procedures and practices in compliance with corporate, state, federal, local, and base regulations and contract requirements.
  • Promote the implementation of occupational safety programs, procedures, and activities.
  • Facilitate safety process development, implementation, and compliance of all subcontracts.
  • Manage safety audit program for field and construction locations to ensure compliance with various contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Participate and support integration at the site level to address site-related safety, quality, health, and welfare to include environmental concerns.
  • Provide guidance to managers and supervisors to assist in the interpretation and compliance of safety and health-related contract requirements.
  • Coordinate field investigations for injury, property damage, and vehicle incidents to ensure thorough investigations and appropriate root cause identification.
  • Conduct special evaluations and internal safety and health field surveys/audits. Compile reports and findings of surveys and audits for review and makes corrective action recommendations and tracks to closure as required.
  • Manage field and construction safety operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field and 10 years of related experience with managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred, including but not limited to Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction or equivalent.
  • Familiar with various operational/field concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experienced incident investigator using various techniques to determine root cause.
  • Experience in field safety implementation and compliance inspections as well as construction safety oversight.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work required.
  • Position requires familiarity with and ability to stay current with industry standards.
  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
