Job Summary

Woman's Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Medical-Surgical/Oncology Unit. As a member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate patient status by observing the patient, noting data collected by other team members, and analyzing this information to independently develop a plan of nursing care.
  • Develop a detailed plan of care, which includes patient/family education, based on initial and on-going assessment findings to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Communicate with patients, families, subordinate staff, and peers to ensure that plans and associated interventions are understood, operationalized, and revised, as appropriate to the patient's age, culture, condition, and unique needs/circumstances.
  • Evaluate patient response to treatment and nursing interventions and if needed, revise the plan of care.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
  • Direct/coordinate nursing care in accordance with professional nursing practice standards.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required.
  • Current licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing is required.
  • Experience and/or certification in the area preferred, but not necessary.
Work Environment

Woman's Hospital is a 36-bed unit that cares for adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical needs, including surgical oncology for gynecologic and breast cancers, complications of cancer therapy, surgical interventions, bariatric, general, and plastic surgeries, infusion therapy, and treatment of various other medical and surgical conditions.
