Successful candidates will have the ability to grasp the broader context of their responsibilities and engage effectively with a wide range of contacts, including peers and senior leadership, while also guiding contributors in their areas of responsibility.

We seek individuals with a proactive approach who envision potential improvements rather than adhering to traditional methods.

The SEC Reporting Senior Analyst will be instrumental in the preparation, review, certification, and filing of financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A sections within Forms 10-Q/10-K filings.

This role collaborates closely with business process owners to ensure the accuracy of supporting data for each area of responsibility, as well as with the Investor Relations team to ensure consistent external messaging.

The Balance Sheet and Cashflow Senior Analyst will oversee the month-end close process related to cashflow reporting, which includes reviewing and analyzing significant global transactions to ensure proper cashflow treatment and executing necessary adjustments.

This role will also manage cashflow and balance sheet reporting analysis for both internal and external reporting requirements.

The Close and Consolidations Senior Analyst will play a crucial role in consolidating total company results, managing translation system processes, income statement reporting, segment reporting, EBIT special items, profit in inventory processes, year-end roll forward processes, and related ad hoc projects.

Common Responsibilities Include:
  • Understanding the implications of complex transactions and engaging with business partners in legal, tax, treasury, purchasing, M&A, etc.
  • Grasping technical accounting conclusions and ensuring that planned journal entries yield the desired outcomes.
  • Resolving issues that arise during the month-end close process and taking full ownership of the resolution, maintaining open communication with the team.
  • Supporting the team during unique transactions such as segment changes, divestitures, and acquisitions.
  • Assisting in the review and validation of Investor Relations presentations and press release information for ad hoc announcements and quarterly earnings materials.
  • Promoting continuous process improvements, control enhancements, and initiatives to streamline the close and filing process.
  • Collaborating with the Global Ledger team and IT for system upgrades, patches, enhancements, and production issues.
  • Coordinating system implementation and enhancement testing procedures with systems administrators and testers.
  • Partnering with Finance to assess accounting implications for all significant business decisions.
  • Reviewing and ensuring the application of appropriate internal controls and SOX compliance.
Team Responsibilities

As a member of the Controllership team, individuals will have opportunities for rotational experiences to broaden their skill sets within the organization.

The following responsibilities may vary based on the assigned Controllership team:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of GM's processes and systems to identify control gaps and opportunities for process streamlining.
  • Supporting a robust control environment to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Researching and interpreting new accounting standards and assessing their applicability to GM, ensuring compliance with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements.
  • Supporting strategic initiatives and transformation activities focused on advancing our all-electric future.
  • Creating analytics and tools to provide insights into regional and business unit performance.
  • Proposing automation, analytics, and data processing solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Resolving complex accounting issues that impact strategic business initiatives and identifying potential accounting risks.
  • Supporting cross-functional Finance teams while fostering relationships to enhance future career opportunities.
  • Completing special assignments beyond core job responsibilities.
