EmergeOrtho is a leading provider of innovative, quality-focused comprehensive musculoskeletal care. We are seeking a skilled Certified Hand/Occupational Therapist to join our team.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for performing patient evaluations and treatments, including documentation as outlined by the state licensing board. They will also supervise therapy assistants, technicians, and ancillary staff, and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, caseworkers, and insurance companies.
Responsibilities:- Practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, and activities of daily living
- Participate in sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to handicaps
- Consult with the rehabilitation team to select activity programs consistent with the needs and capabilities of individuals and to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities
- Design and construct special equipment for patients and suggest adaptations to their work-living environment
- Plan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy programs in hospital, institutional, or community settings to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness, injury, or psychological or developmental problems
- Evaluate patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress
- Complete and maintain necessary records
- Train caregivers how to provide for the needs of a patient during and after therapy
- Recommend changes in patients' work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities
- Plan and implement programs and social activities to help patients learn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps
- Design and create, or requisition, special supplies and equipment, such as splints, braces, and computer-aided adaptive equipment
- Help patients improve decision making, abstract reasoning, memory, sequencing, coordination, and perceptual skills using computer programs
- Lay out materials such as puzzles, scissors, and eating utensils for use in therapy, and clean/repair tools after therapy sessions
- Licensed as an Occupational/Hand Therapist in North Carolina
- Certified Hand Therapist preferred but would consider other candidates
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
- Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
- Current CPR Certification
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- New graduate acceptable but outpatient clinical experience required
- Previous experience in an Orthopaedic rehab setting, preferably outpatient setting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and demands
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain composure when confronted with stressful situations
