Job Summary

We are seeking a Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team at Peter Holtz CPA. As a key member of our tax consulting department, you will work closely with clients to resolve complex tax issues and provide expert guidance on tax planning and compliance.

About the Position

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes, regulations, and procedures. You will be responsible for analyzing client financial situations, identifying viable solutions, and negotiating settlements with tax authorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Analysis: Meet with clients to understand their tax concerns, analyze financial data, and develop customized solutions.
  • Tax Relief Programs: Review and assess tax documents, financial statements, and other records to determine clients' eligibility for tax relief programs.
  • Negotiation with Tax Agencies: Represent clients in discussions with tax authorities, such as the IRS or state agencies, to negotiate payment plans, reduce penalties, or reach other settlements.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and submit necessary documentation, including installment agreements, offer in compromise applications, and other related forms.
  • Compliance Advice: Provide clients with guidance on maintaining tax compliance, preventing future issues, and making informed decisions regarding their tax obligations.
  • Case Management: Track case progress, maintain accurate records, and follow up on required actions for each client.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on current tax codes, relief programs, and any changes in tax legislation that could impact clients.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. A CPA or EA (Enrolled Agent) certification is often preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in tax resolution, tax preparation, or a related field. Experience working with the IRS or tax resolution firms is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes and regulations
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
    • Proficiency with tax software and case management tools
    • Analytical skills to assess complex tax issues and financial situations
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple cases simultaneously
Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition, we offer a comprehensive compensation program, including PTO, health benefits, EA/CPA reimbursement, bonus program, flexible schedules, and office food/treats.
