Job Title: School Nurse

Great Hearts Academies is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students and staff.

Job Summary:

The School Nurse will provide professional nursing care to students and staff, collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and implement health-related policies and procedures, and educate students and staff on health-related topics.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care to students and staff, utilizing professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and implement health-related policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding individual students and serve as a liaison between school personnel, healthcare professionals, and the community.
  • Attend Admission Review & Dismissal (ARD) meetings of students with identified health needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized health care plans and evaluate outcomes of skilled and direct nursing care and procedures.
  • Collaborate with district personnel, including school psychologists and special education diagnosticians, regarding implementation of health-related Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and services.
  • Educate faculty and staff on health-related topics.
  • Develop and recommend campus policies and procedures to promote the health and wellness of students and staff.
  • Provide consultation to campus administration in crisis/emergency situations.
  • Participate in professional development to maintain professional nursing skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Expertise in student-specific case management plans for acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational, communication, mentoring, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • One (1) year nursing experience.
