Job Summary

Avanti Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team in the Emergency Department. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform regular building and ground patrols to identify and mitigate potential security risks
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, including theft, disturbance, and suspicious activity
  • Assist staff with patient restraints and interventions, as needed
  • Control access to sensitive areas and enforce facility access policies
  • Activate and deactivate anti-theft alarm systems
  • Report crimes and maintain open communication with local law enforcement
  • Observe and report daily activity, question unauthorized individuals, and escort them out as necessary
  • Respond to reports of violent activity and provide assistance in restraining violent and aggressive patients or visitors
Requirements
  • High school graduate
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of current experience in an acute hospital setting as a security guard
  • Current Guard Card
  • Current BLS (CPR)
  • Current CPI (AB508)
Working Conditions

The Security Officer will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear, and may taste and smell. The employee is regularly required to lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 10 pounds, with assistance. Visual and auditory abilities must be intact to perform duties.
