Job Title: Mechanic

Dickson County Schools is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buses and vehicles
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues
  • Ensure all vehicles are safe and roadworthy
  • Maintain accurate repair records
  • Build positive relationships with school district staff
Requirements:
  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have at least five years of driving experience
  • Must be willing to obtain a CDL license with P and S endorsements within 60 days
  • TBI/FBI background check is required
  • DCS background check is required
  • D.O.T. physical is required
  • Pre-employment and random drug testing required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years experience in bus and vehicle fleet maintenance
  • Working knowledge of skills in A/C, welding, air brakes, tire repair, and electrical wiring
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair various types of heavy duty diesel and gas engines, Cummins and Caterpillar, and Allison transmissions
  • Ability to maintain accurate repair records
