Job Title: Special Education Teacher - Middle School

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and support to students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and implement instructional processes for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) within the learning center and/or classroom.
  • Deliver instruction, implement curriculum materials and educational software, and develop daily lesson plans and classroom schedules that reflect state and school requirements, as well as the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the learner.
  • Establish a collaborative environment for students, parents, center staff, and administrative personnel.
  • Implement established school-wide and classroom Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs, reinforcement systems, behavioral expectations, and consequences.
  • Record student progress/records, maintain student files, and prepare reports on students and activities.
  • Provide direct subject-based instruction and/or work in a team environment to collaboratively and/or co-teach curricular subjects as required in IEP.
  • Accommodate or modify curriculum and assist with differentiated instruction for students, as well as staff.
  • Act as case manager to special education students, which may include updating IEPs and goals.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and materials for assigned class.
  • Maintain the classroom, furniture, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition according to procedure.
  • Keep up to date with research-based practices and developments in subject area.
  • Respond constructively to formal and informal feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
  • Meet all state and district requirements for appropriate teaching license and/or credentials.
  • Licensed as or have the ability to obtain a special education credential.
  • Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in curriculum development, differentiation, and instruction in a classroom setting.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective treatment plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with autism spectrum disorder, related disabilities, and/or emotional disturbance.
  • Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in working with students with individual education plans (IEP).
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in positive behavior intervention and supports (PBIS) and intensive academic interventions.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Solid motivational skills and willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
