Position Summary: The Lead Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in delivering high-level accounting support while managing a variety of complex financial tasks with utmost confidentiality. This position requires sound judgment within established standards and procedures, as well as oversight of a small team of Accounting Analysts. The Lead Financial Analyst will also serve as a liaison to external tax partners, providing essential support for income tax processes and operational tax functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze financial records, statements, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.
  • Investigate budget discrepancies and provide insightful analysis.
  • Review accounts for inconsistencies and reconcile variances.
  • Maintain the General Ledger (GL) with precision.
  • Prepare necessary adjusting journal entries.
  • Consolidate financial results from various databases effectively.
  • Interpret financial data and reports for management review.
  • Assist in the integration of newly acquired firms.
  • Review bank reconciliations and balance sheet accounts.
  • Develop and uphold internal control measures.
  • Manage the financial close calendar, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Support financial audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Communicate solutions for discrepancies to relevant leadership.
  • Engage with partners regarding estimated tax payments and distributions.
  • Prepare various tax returns as required.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather information for tax provisions and compliance.
  • Work with external service providers to ensure accurate tax documentation.
  • Address inquiries from tax authorities and manage audits effectively.

Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) related to tax accounting and internal controls.
  • Proficient in database management and record-keeping.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated professional skepticism and integrity.
  • Alignment with the organization's core values and culture.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience in insurance accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with tax accounting for publicly traded companies is preferred.
