Operating Room Nurse

Howard University Hospital is seeking a skilled Operating Room Nurse to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As an Operating Room Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the hospital's reputation for excellence.
Job Summary:This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Registered Nurse to work in a fast-paced operating room environment. The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in the operating room, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other members of the perioperative team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans, taking into account individual needs and preferences.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, promoting open communication and collaboration among colleagues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia.
- At least 12 months of RN acute care experience in hospital-based nursing, OR scrub experience required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Certified in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) preferred.
