Job Title: Registered Nurse I

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse I to join our team at the Division of Youth Services. As a Registered Nurse I, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to detained or committed high-risk adolescents in a locked, secure setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide initial nursing assessments and triage of requests for health care submitted by youth.
  • Work in collaboration with medical providers to obtain laboratory and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Administer nursing care and provide youth education for routine, urgent, and emergent medical situations within the scope of practice.
  • Evaluate resident's mental status/mental health condition through interview, health screen, health appraisal, and observation.
  • Provide basic mental health intervention and refer to psychiatrist or mental health resource for further evaluation, intervention, or transfer to a mental health institution in collaboration with behavioral health services staff.

Requirements:

  • Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions regarding infectious/communicable diseases.
  • Experience with adolescent health care, mental health nursing, and correctional nursing is preferred.
