Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle in accordance with company protocols to ensure all safety equipment, gauges, and controls are functioning correctly. Report any safety concerns using standard procedures.
- Safely navigate a heavy truck along designated routes to designated disposal sites; utilize route sheets and maps to efficiently service each customer as assigned.
- Utilize manual and/or automatic controls to manage refuse collection, operate compactors, and dispose of collected materials at designated facilities, adhering to safety policies.
- Engage courteously with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues daily to ensure timely and professional service.
- Identify and tag waste containers that do not meet standards in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Monitor waste for any unacceptable materials and ensure compliance with safety standards when cleaning up accidental spills.
- Regularly check the vehicle's condition to ensure operational readiness, minimizing downtime; clean the packer blade and truck body as necessary after each trip.
- Complete required documentation, including route/productivity sheets and other reports, as necessary, while maintaining productivity standards.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License and DOT physical card.
- Preferred two years of experience driving commercial vehicles.
- Ability to read and write clearly.
- Compliance with company policies regarding controlled substances and alcohol.
- Capability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong customer service skills to exceed client expectations; demonstrate professionalism and cooperation with customers and coworkers.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure responsibilities are fulfilled efficiently and safely.
- Ability to follow through on tasks and adhere to work schedules.
- Commitment to upholding company policies and safety standards.
