Job Summary: As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at Hoag, the MRI Technologist I demonstrates expertise in performing routine MRI procedures, utilizing knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and patient positioning to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the technical quality of images obtained and make necessary corrections to optimize the exam.
- Educate patients and families about the procedure and report any changes in patient status, including initiating emergency response if required.
- Accurately document patient information in hospital systems.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement processes and maintain a working knowledge of departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree or higher.
- Graduate of an ARRT-approved educational program in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is required.
- One year of MRI experience is required, however, may be eligible for cross-training from within another modality for advancement.
- Hospital-based technologists must complete two (2) units of mandatory stroke-specific training/education annually as required.
Certifications and Licenses:
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification in MRI.
- ARMRIT certification may be accepted if candidate is ARRT board eligible and obtains ARRT MR certification within 6 months of hire.
- Valid Venipuncture Certification as required by State of California Health & Safety Code.
Preferred Qualifications:
- California State Radiologic Technologist License.
