Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Markings Specialist to join our team in the City of Arlington. As a key member of our traffic management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic throughout the city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain a short-line markings truck, trailer, and lay-down equipment, including hand tools and traffic control devices.
  • Train, plan, organize, direct, and lead Field Operations Specialists in the installation and maintenance of short-line markings.
  • Understand and interpret the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TxMUTCD), and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) rules, regulations, plans, and guidelines.
  • Service, clean, and maintain equipment, perform walk-around inspections, make minor repairs, and service fluids, fill out equipment log-book, and maintain tools and equipment per manufacturer's specifications and guidelines.
  • Operate required trucks and vehicles for emergency operations response, including dump trucks, sanders, emergency response trailer, salt brine spreaders, snowplows, temporary stop signs, generators, chain saws, and miscellaneous hand tools.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience in a related environment.
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Signs & Markings Level one (1) required, and IMSA Signs & Markings level 2 preferred, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
  • Confined Space Certification.
  • Valid Texas Operator's License, Class C.
  • Ability to obtain Texas Commercial License, Class A, within six (6) months of employment.
Working Conditions

The incumbent is subject to mechanical and chemical hazards, fumes, odors, and dust mites. The work environment varies and may involve exposure to situations that require the use of personal protective equipment.

Periodically, work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
