Key Responsibilities
  • Order Management: Input and oversee both direct and indirect purchase orders within our corporate system (SAP). Ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and spending limits by reviewing indirect requisitions.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Contribute vital supply chain data for monthly S&OP meetings. Address production component shortages and strategize in daily production discussions. Formulate both macro and micro material requirement plans aligned with SOP forecasts.
  • Vendor Engagement: Solicit quotes, assess bids, and negotiate pricing and delivery terms for both new and ongoing requirements.
  • Forecasting Tools Development: Create and implement tools that provide the Supply Chain with essential forecast information, ensuring a seamless flow of materials and services.
  • Operational Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Operations teams (Scheduling, Supervision, Shipping, and Quality) to optimize raw material flow while minimizing production interruptions due to shortages.
  • Data Management: Establish and maintain consistent methods for inputting and managing purchasing data within the business system. Ensure timely processing of invoices.
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives: Design and execute supplier programs aimed at achieving annual cost savings and inventory reduction targets. Support corporate efforts to enhance working capital.
  • Supplier Development: Identify and cultivate key strategic suppliers to boost supply chain performance.
  • Technical Liaison: Act as a liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to address all technical and quality-related issues.
  • Documentation Maintenance: Develop and uphold Purchasing Procedures and documentation in line with corporate policies and legal requirements.
  • Training: Educate relevant employees on essential procedures and work instructions pertaining to the procurement system.
  • Inventory Oversight: Maintain accurate records of raw and WIP inventory at external subcontractors, as well as vendor consignment inventory on our premises.
  • Cost Standards Establishment: Set standard costs for all direct materials.
  • Sample Approval Process: Navigate the sample and supplier approval process for new components.
  • Project Timelines: Develop and adhere to timelines for specific projects.
  • Cost Savings Opportunities: Identify and initiate opportunities for cost savings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing context.
  • Preferred certifications: CPM or APICS's CPIM.
  • Strong background in contract negotiations and vendor management.
  • Proficient in PC skills, including MS Office, MRP/ERP systems, and SAP; familiarity with LEAN manufacturing is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30% of the time.
  • Knowledge of the metals market and alloys is preferred.
  • Experience in project buying is advantageous.
