Assembly Technician

Altec Industries, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of aerial devices, digger derricks, cranes, and specialty equipment for the electric utility, telecommunications, tree care, construction, and light and signs markets.

We are seeking an experienced Assembly Technician to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and installing service truck body components to required specifications.

• Fabricate, weld, and prepare service truck body components to meet quality and safety standards.
• Examine products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications.
• Provide high-quality workmanship on each job performed, ensuring timely completion and meeting customer expectations.
• Learns and operates all equipment and tools in the department, adhering to established safety protocols.
• Supports the Altec Production System (APS) and Lean Manufacturing by minimizing waste and improving performance.
• Maintains a clean and organized workspace, adhering to company policies and procedures.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in assembly, fabrication, or related field.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics, with preference given to candidates with experience in manufacturing or engineering.
• Certification in fork lift operation and OSHA training required.
