About the Position

The Geology Department at Hanover College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to start in August 2025. Our faculty offer a hands-on, field-oriented program in a residential, undergraduate setting, with majors in geology and environmental geology.

We seek an individual with a strong background in paleontology, sedimentology, and stratigraphy with preference given to those with additional expertise in petrology and/or structural geology. The candidate is expected to teach within our Geology and Environmental Geology majors, as well as serve various administrative functions within the department and college-wide.

Responsibilities
  • Teach two laboratory-based courses during each of our Fall and Winter semesters, as well as one course during our Spring semester.
  • Develop and teach a range of geoscience courses, including introductory and advanced courses in geology, mineralogy, paleontology, and field geology.
  • Develop a robust research program involving field and laboratory settings.
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate students in the liberal arts tradition.
Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate outstanding skills and enthusiasm for teaching a broad range of geoscience courses, as well as a strong commitment to research and mentoring students. A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment.
