Auxiliary Operations Technician

The Auxiliary Operator plays a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of the power plant and its supporting equipment and systems. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in Power Plant Operations: Assist in the start-up, shut down, and normal operations of power plant systems, including major auxiliary apparatus such as air compressors, circulating water systems, and boiler feedwater treatment systems.
- Perform Routine Water Chemistry Analysis: Perform routine water chemistry analysis and operate continuous Emissions Monitoring equipment to ensure the plant is operating within safe and efficient parameters.
- Inspect and Maintain Equipment: Inspect and maintain operating components, making minor repairs and adjustments as needed to achieve proper operating conditions.
- Execute Orders from the Control Room Operator: Execute orders from the Control Room Operator at isolated panels for clearing equipment or making it ready for service in accordance with operating instructions and procedures.
- Report Abnormal Conditions: Report any abnormal or irregular conditions that develop during the progress of the work and take corrective measures within the scope of operating instructions.
- Assist Maintenance Personnel: Assist maintenance personnel during maintenance periods to ensure the plant is operating safely and efficiently.
- Complete Other Tasks as Required: Complete other tasks as required by the Control Room Operator or the Operations Manager.
The Auxiliary Operator reports to the Operations Manager and periodically receives work direction from the Control Room Operator.
Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsPhysical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties, and work with hazardous materials may be required.
CompensationThe initial compensation for this position will range from $35.00 per hour.
Job Qualifications- Ability to Understand Procedures: Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school.
- Minimum of Two Years Experience: Minimum of two years experience in Power Plant Operations desirable.
- Experience in Water Chemistry Control: Experience in water chemistry control, analysis of water conditions, water treatment facility operations, and chemical handling requirements is required.
- Theoretical and Practical Knowledge: Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations, closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management, and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable.
- Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license required.
