Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough evaluations of loan applications to ensure adherence to company policies, investor requirements, and FHA/VA standards.
  • Assess the credit profiles and collateral for residential mortgage loans to ensure superior loan quality.
  • Complete all essential underwriting documentation and assist in the training of new team members.
  • Advise on loan decisions that exceed predetermined thresholds to the underwriting supervisor.
  • Maintain high levels of productivity while meeting underwriting turnaround expectations.
  • Clearly communicate loan decisions to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Keep detailed records of underwriting activities and prepare monthly performance reports.
  • Offer guidance to processors and correspondents regarding the interpretation of guidelines.
  • Respond efficiently to post-closing reviews and audits.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as directed by management.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three years of experience in mortgage underwriting.
  • Knowledge of underwriting standards, private investor requirements, and private mortgage insurance guidelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong business relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Outstanding analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in relevant technology and software.
