Job Summary

The Production Infrastructure Specialist, part of the OceanX Media Pillar, will oversee, optimize, and maintain OceanX's post-production infrastructure across our land and sea production offices in New York City, Singapore, and onboard our research vessel R/V OceanXplorer. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining our infrastructure and workflows to effectively organize, store, backup, and access media for various creative, documentary, new media, and scientific needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Routine Maintenance and Health Checks: Perform regular maintenance and health checks on OceanX's production technology infrastructure and asset storage at our production offices and onboard R/V OceanXplorer.
  • Proactive Solutions: Develop and implement proactive solutions derived from routine maintenance on SNS EVO servers and LTO.
  • Infrastructure Optimization: Develop and execute a plan to optimize OceanX's current infrastructure and future-proof it for long-term needs based on overall Media and Organizational goals.
  • Media Asset Management: Manage the ever-growing footage archive, including LTO backups and mezz file management in CatDV.
  • Media Asset Requests: Receive, respond, and fulfill media asset requests from internal OceanX stakeholders (Marketing, Partnerships, Education, and Science) and external stakeholders (Scientific Partners, Footage Licensing Requests).
  • Workflow Development: Develop new workflows to make media asset requests more turnkey for internal requests.
  • Technology Research: Stay current and seek out new technology solutions that can optimize performance, lighten workload, and reduce costs.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee, catalog, and future-proof OceanX's physical production media kit inventory.
  • Vendor Relationships: Maintain third-party technology vendor relationships.
  • Software Subscriptions: Oversee OceanX media software subscriptions.
Requirements
  • Professional Experience: 4+ years of experience in production engineering, video production, Information Technology, or in a scientific data management role.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated project management and analytical capabilities and experience.
  • LTO and Adobe Experience: Familiarity with LTO tape management and workflows, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Media Asset Management: Familiarity with CatDV or similar Media Asset Management Solution.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with senior leadership, staff, and external parties.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient/Advanced MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.

Compensation

Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary in the range from $95,000 - $135,000 (inclusive of a merit-based bonus, dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset), potentially a success-driven incentive payment, and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer-paid medical plan and generous employer match for 401(k).
