Diesel Fleet Mechanic Job Description

At US Foods, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Fleet Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our diesel equipment fleet.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel equipment including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, and other heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with company standards to prevent downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Complete accurate documentation of all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability to ensure seamless record-keeping and reporting.
  • Respond promptly to road service calls and perform road rescue/transport duties as needed to minimize disruptions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to workplace safety rules, regulations, and government guidelines.
  • Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the Shop Fax system to ensure efficient workflow management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic, or a combination of both.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Prior experience with administering effective PM programs is highly desirable.
  • Certification in EPA and OSHA regulations is preferred.
