Job Summary

The Wound Care Registered Nurse is a licensed professional who utilizes the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards and identifies patient and family needs.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care, modifying it as necessary to meet clinical outcomes.
  • Uses clinical reasoning to prioritize patient and family needs and delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act and employee competencies.
  • Participates in quality/performance improvement initiatives and helps evidence-based practice changes through research utilization and experiential learning.
  • Creates an attentive, helpful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff, developing therapeutic relationships and managing physical and emotional pain.
  • Recognizes and incorporates patient and family differences, such as culture, spiritual beliefs, and values, into an individualized plan of care.
  • Preserves and protects patient and family confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights, representing their concerns and creating an individualized plan that reflects patient and family values and goals.
  • Facilitates learning for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members, integrating education throughout the continuum of care to promote health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Works collaboratively and interdependently with colleagues and community to develop and implement an integrated plan of care, open and sensitive to all team members' unique contributions.
  • Uses strategies and available resources for problem-solving, considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in planning and delivering patient care.
  • Improves nursing practice and the work environment through participating in mutual governance and decision-making processes, recognizing the contributions of others, and participating in the staffing process from education and planning to evaluation.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program
  • License/Certification: Must have hands-on Wound Care experience, Wound Care certification is a plus
  • 1+ years of US experience as a RN
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (required within 30 days of hire)
