Grant Writer

Boulo Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Part-Time Grant Writer to join their team. As a Grant Writer, you will be responsible for writing, editing, and submitting grant applications for new and existing programs within the Scientific Platforms division.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and submit grant proposals that meet the requirements of grant-making organizations.
• Work closely with scientific staff to become familiar with research and service offerings and incorporate that knowledge into writing/editing grant proposals.
• Complete all applications with appropriate attachments, including fiscal items, for review by leadership and principal investigators prior to submission.
• Develop and maintain a timeline for each grant submission to ensure adequate time for scientific review in order to submit the grant by the deadline.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain standard information on the organization, its history and programs, and the background and credentials of key staff for use in grant applications.
• Keep in contact with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application in order to be able to supply additional supportive material.
• Coordinate and submit intermediate and closure grant reports for internal review and external submission.
• Use electronic submission systems to apply for grants, cooperative agreements, and specified contracts, and to submit reports.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of grant guidelines.
• Maintain current records in electronic and paper files to track grants and complete grant reporting.
• Identify organizations and initiatives for potential new grant submissions including and works with internal departments and principal investigators to identify new opportunities.
• Tracks and reports on new funding opportunities related to the mission of the organization.
• Participates in and coordinates activities commonly associated with responding to requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for information (RFI), and requests for quotes (RFQ).
• Continuously looks for and implements improvements that drive process efficiencies in grant submissions.

Requirements:

• B.S degree in chemistry, biology or related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant writing experience. Willing to train if no experience in these scientific fields.
• Exceptional writing skills with the ability to write and edit within the context of grant guidelines.
• Demonstrated technical and scientific writing experience as it applies to winning proposal development.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific terminology and concepts for lay audiences.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects is essential.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage grant process with multiple collaborators.
• The ability to succeed under pressure in a deadline-driven environment, both independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other relevant software.
• Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Experience writing RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.
• Scientific background.
• Working knowledge of MS Project.
