Documentation and Coding Auditor

Tri-Cities Community Health is seeking a skilled Documentation and Coding Auditor to join our team. As a community health center, we are committed to providing high-quality patient care and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and auditing medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding and documentation guidelines. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze patient medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures, and assign proper ICD-10 codes
- Conduct audits of provider records to ensure compliance with coding and documentation guidelines
- Provide written reports to providers, supervisors, and the Director of HR on accuracy and areas for improvement
- Assess the adequacy of medical record documentation to ensure it supports the principal diagnosis, procedure, and comorbid conditions
- Work as a liaison between the billing department, providers, and other medical staff to clarify diagnosis, missing documentation, and splitting encounters
- Participate in planning and rolling out ICD-10 implementation to all service lines as necessary
- Coordinate implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of compliance initiatives for employed providers
- High school diploma/GED required; billing/coding training desirable
- Two years' experience in compliance, review, and auditing in a clinic or physician practice setting preferred
- CPC, CCS-P, or AHIMA certification required; ICD-10 certification preferred
- Knowledgeable and proficient in CPT/ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, medical billing, claims processing, medical terminology, and Microsoft Office products
