Job Summary

Heritage Environmental Services is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Chemical Materials Specialist. This role involves managing and transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a Safe Work Environment: Prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies and procedures, and maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
  • Material Categorization and Packing: Assist in categorizing chemicals by hazard class, packing them in suitable containers, and preparing for transport, including completing necessary documentation.
  • Job Site Support: Determine required supplies for jobs, travel to various sites, and conduct lab pack services in industry, laboratory, and school settings.
  • Material Characterization: Participate in material characterization at project sites.
  • Transportation and Logistics: Follow proper procedures for placarding and load segregation when transporting hazardous materials.
  • Customer Relations: Build strong relationships with customers through effective communication.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise Field Technicians/Drivers supporting waste collection.
  • Material Handling: Have basic knowledge of managing high hazard materials and handling cylinders.

Requirements:

  • A four-year college degree in Science or related field, or 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in lab packing or environmental waste management is preferred.
  • Good understanding of federal, state, and local laws related to Environmental Services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for communication with internal and external contacts.
  • Clean shaven to wear a respirator when handling materials.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, DOT physical, and drug screening.
  • Obtain a Class B CDL with hazmat endorsement within 6 months.
  • Meet Heritage Driving Qualifications.
  • Able to pass Motor Vehicle Record search.
