Key Responsibilities:
  • Core Functions:
    • The Laboratory Science Specialist will uphold the mission and objectives of the healthcare facility by conducting clinical laboratory tests, ensuring quality control, performing proficiency assessments, and maintaining laboratory instruments.
  • Professional Qualifications:
    • Experience: A minimum of one year in a recognized laboratory setting, including applicable internship experience.
  • Educational Background:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related scientific discipline.
    • Completion of a twelve-month clinical training program in medical technology or an equivalent recognized by certification authorities.
  • Licensure and Certification:
    • Must possess certification as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist through ASCP, NCA, or an equivalent recognized by CLIA.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in organizing and planning laboratory tasks.
    • Capable of instructing medical technology students in specimen processing and addressing inquiries related to laboratory information systems.
    • Responsible for the meticulous collection and accurate labeling of specimens.
    • Adaptability to work additional hours or shifts during emergency situations.
    • Ability to maintain efficiency and accuracy under pressure, ensuring the highest standards of laboratory practice.
    • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in computer systems, and effective listening, speaking, writing, and reading abilities.
    • Familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
    • Proficient in the use of various laboratory analyzers and equipment relevant to the position.
