Protect the Nation from Chemical and Biological Threats

As a Chemical Operations Specialist for the Army National Guard, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the country from chemical and biological warfare. You will be trained to expertly handle nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) detection and decontamination equipment, allowing you to assist in the application of NBC defense measures. Your duties will include providing training advice and supervision regarding CBRN equipment and operations, as well as maintaining disaster plans and operating and performing maintenance on smoke generating equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on the use of CBRN equipment and procedures
• Maintain and update disaster response plans
• Operate and perform maintenance on smoke generating equipment
• Coordinate with civilian personnel on emergency response procedures

Required Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work calmly under pressure
• Familiarity with algebra, chemistry, physics, geometry, and trigonometry

Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career in chemistry, chemical engineering, and chemical disposal.

Training and Development
In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. After 10 weeks of Basic Training, you will attend 11 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), where you will learn defensive procedures for NBC warfare and preparation of emergency plans.
