Position Overview: Elsdon Construction is in search of a seasoned and proactive Heavy Civils Superintendent to oversee operations in the Dallas area. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in civil construction, demonstrating a history of effectively managing large-scale initiatives. This position demands outstanding leadership capabilities, technical knowledge, and a strong dedication to completing projects within established timelines and budgets.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise all on-site construction operations for heavy civil projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications, plans, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate efficient workflows and timely project delivery.
  • Formulate and execute project schedules, budgets, and resource management strategies.
  • Perform regular site evaluations to assess progress, quality, and safety, addressing any concerns immediately.
  • Guide and develop on-site construction teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, milestones, and potential risks or challenges.
  • Oversee project documentation, including daily logs, reports, and records of labor, materials, and equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and managing diverse teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as necessary.
  • OSHA certification or equivalent safety training is preferred.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
