Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

Job Summary
Del Sol Medical Center is seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Technician II to join our team. As a CT Technician II, you will be responsible for operating Cat Scan equipment, positioning patients to produce diagnostic radiographs, and performing related duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate C.T. equipment to make radiographic scans of designated portions of the body, adjusting equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination.
- Perform reconstruction and special processing of data, evaluating completed radiographs/scans for positioning, technique, and adequacy of examination.
- Closely observe patients, perform first aid as necessary, confer with physicians when requested exams appear at odds with the patient's condition, and maintain an acute awareness of any patient under your control.
- Perform a variety of clerical tasks, including pulling jackets, inputting/editing exams, and completing requisitions prior to setting films to be read.
- Record and maintain data on magnetic disc, tape, PACS, and logs, ensuring correct identification of film, including side and radiological factors.
- Demonstrate Customer Service/Service Plus principles and behaviors appropriately.
- Arrange, attach, or adjust immobilization and supportive devices to obtain precise position, prevent motion, and aid in patient comfort.
- Keep current regarding developments in trends and techniques of diagnostic Cat Scan by reading technical journals, participating in in-service education programs, attending conferences, etc.
- Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross contamination, maintaining orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination-free condition of rooms, equipment, and personnel.
- Adhere to prescribed standards of Radiation Safety, participate in the Quality Improvement and safety programs.
- Ensure appropriate recording of hours worked, adhering to hospital policy.
Requirements
- ARRT (R) certification
- Texas Medical Board certification as Medical Radiologic Technologist
- Current CPR certification
- ARRT (CT) Credential
Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection concepts and techniques.
- Knowledge of radiographic physics, medical terminology, and ability to determine exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic images with a minimum exposure to patients.
- Ability to examine radiographs for the purpose of evaluation techniques, positions, and other related qualities, exercise discretion and good judgment with patients during radiographic procedures.
- Skill in safe and efficient operation of Cat Scan equipment, ability to deviate from normal techniques when necessary to develop new and better techniques to keep the department up to date.
