Overview: The Art Gallery Engagement Specialist is responsible for representing the Council on Culture & Arts with professionalism and warmth. This role involves engaging with the public and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Relations: Greet and assist all visitors and callers with a friendly demeanor.
- Sales and Services: Promote and sell the Council's artistic offerings and services.
- Volunteer Coordination: Organize and manage volunteers and interns effectively.
- Data Management: Track and report relevant data accurately.
- Environment Maintenance: Ensure the gallery remains inviting, clean, and organized.
Hospitality Duties:
- Welcome and assist all gallery visitors.
- Develop a thorough understanding of current and upcoming exhibitions, events, and programs.
- Manage front desk communications, directing inquiries as necessary.
- Support special events and programs.
- Maintain up-to-date promotional materials in the lobby.
Sales Operations:
- Efficiently operate the point of sale system for transactions.
- Assist customers with online sales, including memberships and event registrations.
- Manage inventory using the designated app.
- Ensure the shop is well-stocked with necessary supplies.
Artist Relations:
- Assist in organizing, displaying, and managing artwork.
- Communicate with artists regarding procedures and inventory.
- Foster relationships with current and potential artists.
Community Engagement:
- Identify and fulfill volunteer needs.
- Facilitate communication regarding volunteer opportunities.
- Assist in planning and executing community events.
Facilities Management:
- Conduct opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the facilities.
Reporting Responsibilities:
- Track and report visitor attendance.
- Manage daily sales and artist transmittals.
- Monitor inventory levels and sales data.
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with the public.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in sales and retail environments.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks in a dynamic environment.
Work Environment:
This position requires on-site work, with potential for occasional evening and weekend hours.
Compensation:
This is a full-time hourly position with competitive pay based on experience, along with paid time off and holidays.
