Speech Language Pathologist Wanted

We are seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Rebecca School, a developmental program utilizing the DIRFloortime method, to work with students aged 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays.

Job Summary

Rebecca School is a developmental program that utilizes the DIRFloortime method, a relationship-based model of teaching instruction developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. We are seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to work with students aged 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays in relating, communicating, and thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver speech therapy services to students with special needs
  • Administer pediatric speech assessments to determine a student's level of function in areas such as language acquisition, articulation, and oral motor and feeding
  • Prepare written assessment and reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies, goals, and objectives; maintain progress records
  • Provide students with individual treatment and group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of content and pragmatic issues
  • Educate team members on facilitation of implemented techniques or modalities
  • Monitor therapy and educational staff trained to incorporate appropriate speech therapy treatment strategies into instruction; evaluate effectiveness of the established program and make modifications within the speech and language framework of the DIR model
  • Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programs
  • Participate in weekly Greenspan meetings, team meetings, and staff trainings
  • Case presentation to the entire staff twice per year demonstrating how language goals are incorporated into the DIR model

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP)
  • License to practice SLP in NYS
  • TSHH/TSSLD Certification
  • Knowledge of DIRFloortime is preferred, but not required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, staff, and parents
