Job SummaryThe MRI Technologist Day Shift Thursday will be responsible for performing MRI procedures on Low and High Field magnets at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. This role requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to obtain image data for MRI diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities- Operate MRI equipment according to equipment specifications, including low, high, and open magnets, physicians' workstations, stealth procedures, dry lasers, coils, computer analysis, and image processing.
- Produce quality images consistently within department standards, including 3D reformatting and reconstruction and MRA.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot processing problems and take appropriate action.
- Follow good MRI safety practices, including special stretchers, wheelchairs, monitors, training of ancillary personnel, equipment, and safety checks, according to state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain patient records according to department standards.
- Assess patients according to exam ordered, with appropriate documentation, including checking orders, reviewing previous films, checking lab values when indicated, prepping, screening for possible pregnancy, and involving imaging nurses when necessary.
- Provide patient education pertinent to the exam being performed and document in patient records.
- Comply with accurately and completely utilizing RIS according to department standards, including orders, arrivals, starts, completions, cancellations, record complications, fluoro time, drug history, repeats, complaints, and transfers, and CPAC procedures when indicated.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including non-technical duties, training of new staff and students, special projects, and other duties.
- Licensure or other certifications: Current ARRT.
- Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of accredited ARRT Program.
