Job Description:

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and validation of Multi Vendor (MVS) CAT II designation instrumentation. Your focus will be on the following areas:

  • Chromatography systems, including Cytiva AKTA FPLC, Agilent & Waters HPLC, and Waters UPLC
  • Liquid Handlers, such as Agilent BRAVO
  • Cell Counters, including Beckman ViCell XR
  • Thermo Corona CAD
  • Shimadzu UV-Vis
  • Other areas of focus include, but are not limited to: Kuhner shakers, Millipore Air Samplers, Water Purification, and backup support for on-site CAT I Engineers (incubators, centrifuge, plate washers, etc.)

You will work closely with other ULS teams and Sales to ensure client-focused service. Proficiency in customer management software is required to track service calls, manage parts inventories, and complete job tasks.

Responsibilities:
  • Review reports and documentation from customers and inspect malfunctioning product to determine nature and scope of problem
  • Analyze review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action
  • Coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs
  • Analyze Chemistry and instrument reports in the process of diagnosing technical or application problems
  • Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service
  • Develop and conduct training on the safe operations of equipment and demonstrate skills to trainees, including team members and customers
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Sciences, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years hands-on experience as a Service Engineer, particularly working with analytical instrumentation, especially Chromatography
  • Hands-on experience with benchtop laboratory instrumentation systems
  • Effective communication skills and establishing good customer rapport are essential
  • Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation
  • Must be available to travel overnight up to 10% within the territory or other areas as required
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs with assistance on occasion
  • Ability to safely lift and carry 25-30 lbs continuously throughout the day
  • Ability to bend, squat, stretch, and reach on a daily basis in a service function
  • Ability to travel overnight at a minimum of 10%, after initial training period
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Regular and Reliable Attendance
