Substation Electrician

Cianbro is seeking a highly skilled Substation Electrician to join our team. As a Substation Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in high voltage substations.

• Electrical System Installation and Maintenance: Install and maintain electrical systems, including raceways, wiring, and equipment related to metering, communication systems, and relaying systems.
• Electrical System Repair and Inspection: Perform all phases of installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Electrical Equipment Installation and Maintenance: Install, repair, and maintain electrical motors, complex electronic devices, control panels, relays, conduit, and switches.
• Electrical System Testing and Troubleshooting: Use meter and motor testing equipment to troubleshoot and test electrical systems.
• Electrical System Design and Planning: Ability to understand control schematics and read and understand installation instructions and wiring diagrams for basic equipment.
• Electrical System Safety: Ability to check phasing through a system and ensure electrical systems are installed and maintained safely.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
• Education: Completed an electrical apprenticeship program.
• Certifications: Preferred OSHA 1910.269 Certified.
• Skills: Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, layout, and complete maintenance or repair needed for high voltage equipment. Skilled in using and maintaining electrical tools and test equipment such as rotation meters, digital test equipment, amp meters, voltmeters, meggers.
• Knowledge: Knowledge of Substation grounding to create an equipotential work zone and skilled in installing protection grounds.
• Experience in High Voltage Environment: Must have related experience in a high voltage environment.
