Job Summary:
The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will utilize advanced genomic information to optimize medication therapy for patients. This role requires a deep understanding of pharmacogenetics, genomics, and clinical pharmacology.
Responsibilities:
- Pharmacogenomic Assessment: Evaluate patient genetic information to identify potential drug-gene interactions and inform medication selection and dosing.
- Medication Therapy Optimization: Develop personalized medication regimens based on a patient's genetic profile, considering factors such as drug efficacy, toxicity, and adverse effects.
- Patient Counseling: Educate patients and their caregivers about the importance of pharmacogenomics and how it can improve their healthcare outcomes.
- Research and Education: Participate in research projects related to pharmacogenomics and medication therapy. Contribute to the education of other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
- PharmD from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy is required.
- Completion of a PGY1 and applicable PGY2 specialty residency or a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience required.
- TX Pharmacist license or eligible.
- Preceptor license required (must be obtained within 90 days).
- CPR – BLS required.
- BPS certification required within 1 year of employment.
- Prior experience in pharmacogenetics, genomics, and clinical pharmacology is strongly preferred.
