Detailed Job Description

As a Corrections Assistant Supervisor with Osceola County, FL, you will play a pivotal role in the Inmate Services unit, overseeing the implementation and management of various programs and services. This position requires strong leadership skills, as you will supervise a team of entry and journey-level employees engaged in carrying out departmental functions within a correctional facility.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of adult inmate classification, case management, and rehabilitation principles, practices, procedures, and systems. You will be responsible for overseeing the management of classification activities, ensuring accurate housing placement, and coordinating the Trusty Program for the facility.

In addition, you will assist with supervising schedules, evaluating staff, administering discipline, and ensuring compliance with all laws, rules, and regulatory standards governing the operations of the facility and programs. You will also be responsible for performing a wide variety of complex administrative functions, including entering and updating court information into the Jail Management system, reviewing and authorizing inmate releases, and compiling and analyzing statistical data.

A successful Corrections Assistant Supervisor will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of management, employees, other departments, officials, and the general public. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and files, as well as performing routine mathematical computations and tabulations accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of employees engaged in carrying out departmental functions within a correctional facility
  • Oversee the management of classification activities, ensuring accurate housing placement
  • Coordinate the Trusty Program for the facility

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field
  • Four years' experience in Inmate Records, Bonds and Dockets, Inmate Programming, Inmate Classification, Probation, Pretrial Release, and/or Community Corrections
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to supervise a team of employees
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of management, employees, other departments, officials, and the general public

  • Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and tabulations accurately and efficiently
