Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation and Equipment Operator to join our team at Metalico. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for transporting and operating mobile equipment at assigned customer locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation and Equipment Operation: Safely operate a triaxle truck and mobile baler, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Pre-Shift Safety Inspection: Conduct thorough pre-shift safety inspections of equipment to ensure proper maintenance and identify any potential issues.
  • Material Identification: Identify material in line with ferrous and/or non-ferrous grading requirements.
  • Log Keeping and Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections, complete logs, and ensure maintenance or repairs are accomplished with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with internal dispatch personnel and customer representatives, and work collaboratively with the yard team to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Requirements
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL.
  • Safe Driving Record: Maintain a safe driving record and history, with no DUIs within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • Physical Abilities: Be able to wear and use approved safety equipment, and complete pre-employment testing.
  • Experience and Skills: Have prior experience with heavy equipment, hand tools, and machinery, and possess strong verbal communication skills.
  • Education and Certifications: Have basic math, reading, and writing English skills, and be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
