We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic Specialist to join our team at Performance Foodservice. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of diesel equipment.

About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading food distribution company, where you will have the chance to utilize your technical skills and knowledge to contribute to the success of our operations. You will work closely with other mechanics and technicians to diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, refrigeration units, and other equipment.

In this role, you will be required to perform routine maintenance tasks, including changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment. You will also be responsible for inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical components to ensure they are in good working order. Additionally, you will complete thorough documentation for work orders through our online Enterprise Asset Management system.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, refrigeration units, and other equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, battery checks, and equipment lubrication
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical components
  • Complete thorough documentation for work orders through our online Enterprise Asset Management system
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including PMs, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and refrigeration &/or overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions
