Position Details:
SHIFT: 8 AM - 4:30 PM / FULL-TIME / 40 HOURS
LOCATION: Emory Decatur Hospital
Directs organization-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound management, and ostomy care, including support for pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as advising on appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
Develops and implements educational programs and clinical instruction for healthcare staff and students enrolled in relevant educational programs.
Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
Determines suitable nursing interventions for identified patient issues, symptoms, and educational needs related to wound and ostomy care.
Recommends the necessary equipment, materials, and resources to effectively implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
Conducts pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education. Develops and delivers post-operative ostomy education and care plans for patients and their families.
Performs Related Responsibilities As Required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
- Two years of recent (within the past five years) Registered Nursing experience.
- Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
- Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.
Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care is preferred.
BLS certification is required.
ACLS may be required in certain units.
