Police Reserve Officer

The City of Bemidji, MN is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Police Reserve Program as a Police Reserve Officer - Community Service. As a Police Reserve Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the Bemidji Police Department's day-to-day operations and providing training and experience to adults interested in a law enforcement career.

• Enforce parking regulations and issue parking violations, while maintaining accurate records and appearing in court as required.
• Respond to animal complaints, maintain accurate records, and provide assistance to the Community Service Officer as needed.
• Assist in crime prevention efforts, gather information, and provide assistance under the direction of the Community Service Officer.
• Perform vacation home checks, maintain and update the vacation log, and provide inspections as requested.
• Provide police support services, including picking up and delivering mail, providing assistance and information to the public, and assisting Police Officers with vehicle tows, crime scene security, and response to disasters.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or education in law enforcement or criminal justice preferred.
• Previous experience in public contact and law enforcement-related fields is highly desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public, work independently, and establish effective working relationships with others.
• Must possess a valid MN Driver's License, be a U.S. citizen, and be able to read and understand the English language.
• First Aid and CPR certifications are required, and a thorough background check must be clear of felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.

The Police Reserve Officer - Community Service position requires frequent work in outside weather conditions and occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
