Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. As a Nursing Assistant, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing high-quality patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Registered Nurses with patient care, including administering treatments and providing bedside care.
  • Take and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Document patient care and vital signs in the Hospital Information System.
  • Perform EKGs and other clinical tasks as needed.
  • Provide general comfort, welfare, and safety to patients.
  • Assist with ward clerk duties and maintain a clean and organized patient work area.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • Nurse Aide certificate or equivalent
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Training course in acute care skills
  • Ability to lift and transport patients
  • Visual and auditory acuity
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous EKG and Ward Clerk experience
About Us

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is a smoke-free environment, and all hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. Shift differential is available for night shift. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.

This function/position may be designated as "essential," which means that when the hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and related facilities.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton's Employee Health Services
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s)

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
