We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian II to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will play a critical role in coordinating evidence-based medical nutrition therapy that is integrated and compatible with patient-focused medical goals.
Key Responsibilities- Apply the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) through nutrition-focused physical exams to assess nutritional needs and identify nutrient requirements for assigned patients.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement nutrition care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families on healthy eating habits and nutrition-related topics.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and revision of hospital policies related to nutrition care.
- Lead, direct, and manage the work assigned to others within the department, including precepting interns and supporting the development of clinical dietitians.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and completion of a Coordinated Program in Dietetics or Dietetic Internship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
- Registered Dietitian (RD) certification and licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) in the state of North Carolina.
- Three years of experience as an RD with two years of experience in the area of clinical specialty or five years of experience as an RD.
- Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps of the process.
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients, public, hospital and medical staff, and physicians.
